This week, representatives of our club have presented to Dudo Šimenc, the Foundation’s President, a check in the amount of 186,261.72 HRK collected in, so far, the biggest humanitarian project of this Foundation. The collected funds are intended for use of the Croatian Athletes Foundation which helps former top athletes, who after success sports careers, have faced difficult times.

Within the cult 91st Mrduja regatta, a humanitarian sailing competition named ‘Sail with Rotary for the Croatian Athletes Foundation’ took place. Thanks to ACI which sponsored six ClubSwan 36 sailing boats, sailing club Jadran as the principal regatta Mrduja organizer, the most celebrated Croatian skippers made the crews of these six boats: Tonči Stipanović, Šime i Mihovil Fantela, Filip Jurišić, Palma Čargo as well as the Croatian ski legend: Ivica Kostelić. In order to make the  competition interdisciplinary, other top Croatian athletes participated as crew members, such as Tomislav Smoljanović, Snježana Pejčić, Antonija Sandrić (ex Mišura), Barbara Matić, Ivan and Anđelo Kvesić. With favorable wind, this was a great experience for everybody. This sailing competition was covered by media Sportske Novosti and Sportska televizija. It is a general conclusion that this project has to be continued for the good of the foundation’s beneficiaries.
